This paper has paid attention to the research of the wall material, which is one of the important parts in the building material industry of our country. The usage of it is around 1/2 of the all building material usage, the value of it is about 30% of the total building cost, and the total value of it is near 1/3 of the total value of the building material industry. The thermal properties of wall materials can influence the consumable energy of building directly, which is about 25% of the total building consumable energy and is near 1/2 of the total consumable energy of building material industry, Therefore, the properties, quality and economic efficacy of building project can be influenced by the properties and price of wall materials transparently and heavily.At present, the level of working technology and application of wall material are still in a backward state compared with developed countries and the constitution of products is not reasonable. For example, about 70% of products are traditional solid bricks, which consume energy and resources heav(?)ly and typically, and are not conducive to building saving energy. The general situation of Chongqing is nearly the same as the situation of our country whereas the non-clayey state has realized since 1990.In this research, a lot of relative files and statistical information published by the functional department of Chongqing City had been looked through and the developing process of Chongqing City's wall body had been researched. Based on the investigation of the real situation of some productive manufacturers and the recent years' information of quality examination from some authoritative quality examination organizations, we conclude that the basic situation of Chongqing City's wall material manufacturers are as follows: (1) productive technology equipments are in a relatively backward state; (2) constitution of products needs to be improved; (3) products are not good for building saving energy; (4) the sustainable development capacity is relatively week; (5) most of wall material products in Chongqing City are still solid bricks made by sinter shale.Using the estimating system of our country's wall materials, an objective remark had been made by many experts who are invited by us. On the grounds of the estimating results and combined with the real situation got by our first-hand investigation, we propose that the future development of Chongqing City's wall material should be as follows: (1) developing hollow bricks of sinter shale appropriately; (2) developing sinter coal stone bricks and sinter powdered coal bricks heavily; (3) developing plaster...
