| Since the 1990s, as a result of the rapid globalization trend of world economy and the rising competition in global market, more and more companies start to seek actively the closer cooperation with their suppliers, particularly the development of the strategic suppliers. Therefore, supplier management has been getting more and more emphasis from top management of many companies. Supplier management as an important part of purchasing and supply management mainly refers to the supplier understanding, select, develop, control and use. Among all these five functions, understanding is the foundation. Select, develop and control are measures, and use is the ultimate purpose. It's not hard to tell that the selection of a suitable supplier who can meet needs of company development and is with good development prospects has become a vital element to the success of the company. The research on suppliers select mainly focuses on two aspects: supplier selection criteria and supplier selection method.At the same time, in order to effectively use the global resources and sustain the cost advantage of their products in a highly competed market environment, many multinational companies have proactively deployed their strategy on the global supply chain development, and carried out many low-cost countries sourcing and procurement projects. Obviously, for a multinational company, the capability of quick and efficient implementation of the low cost country sourcing project is the key to their competitiveness. However, many low-cost country sourcing does not succeed. Due to many internal and external factors, the early stage of low-cost country sourcing project of BRKR company in china was not that easy as well, and a very important reason for that is the unsuitable supplier selection.This thesis is to study from the supplier selection perspective the setup of the supplier assessment system and weight setting of each index and take the actual procurement project of BRKR company as an example to establish the supplier evaluation model which can be applied in daily procurement management and provide multinational companies a practical solution on low-cost country sourcing project implementation. |
