The automotive industry is a capital and technology intensive industry which relates highly to other industries and influences the domestic economics significantly. The automotive industry in our country, have made remarkable achievements attracting world-wide attention and entered big country of automotive industry, through more than a half of century's development. However, the strategy of"market for technology"makes lots of problems to our automotive industry, especially for the field of self-brand passenger cars. Such as core competitiveness is weak, independent innovation capability is not strong and so on. The twelfth five year plan made clear that our country is necessary to achieve the auto big country from the auto power country to change, especially increasing the support strength for self-brand passenger cars. This thesis studies the choices of the model and strategy of self-innovation of self-brand passenger cars in China, and hopes that can give some reference to the companies of self-brand passenger cars for enhancing capability of independent innovation and strengthening the core competence.The thesis has divided into four parts:Part 1: Introduction and the relevant theoretical summary. Studies on the background and the significance of industrial innovation in our country's automotive industry, theories about technology innovation and independent innovation, and defines the related concepts;Part 2: Analyze the present situation of self-brand passenger cars in China. This part analyzes the market performance of self-brand passenger cars, the development history of products and technologies, comparison of innovation activities in domestic and foreign automobile enterprises, and SWOT, providing the basis for the choice and draft;Part 3: Through combining of A-U model and the theory of technological trajectory etc, this paper argues that the innovation path in developing industrial countries is anti-life cycle.This thesis divides independent innovation into original innovation, integrated innovation, and introducing-digesting-absorbing re-innovation, and points out the selection model of innovation strategy for self-brand passenger business in China.Finally, the thesis advances related measures and recommendations for implementing the strategy of independent innovation, by the view of automobile enterprise.
