Construction industry plays a very important role in the development of our national economy, and is closely correlated with the improvement of people's living conditions. According to the data from Statistical Yearbook of China, the total output of construction industry accounts for about 6% of GDP during the last decade. The total real estate investment takes up about 15% of total social investment in fixed assets. Now in the management of the project cost there are some problems, such as, no correct and definite idea about the role of the industry and the responsibilities and duties in it, lack some necessary procedures and scientific methods in the management, the cost management often being out of control, and etc., which greatly influence the profitability and potential development. Therefore, it is of great importance, for the purpose of improving project management, to study the factors influencing the project cost management, to explore proper methods to guide the cost management.This essay presents the basic theories of cost management are presented first, and then by quoting the project management theories in the control of range, progress and quality, puts forwards the new concepts and methods of the cost management of construction projects. In the case analysis, a specific project is cited and the methods put forward in this essay are applied to do research. By collecting and analyzing the data, the author adopts the AHP and other related methods to build a model, proposes the specific measures for project cost control, and then provides guidance in this field. Additionally, hopefully, this study will offer some references in improving the project cost management in our country's construction industry.
