Currently, resources, environment and population are three main issues the human society is facing. Environment, the basic condition for human survival and the material basis for sustainable development of human society, now poses a serious threat to the survival and development of human society. Protection of the environment and implementation of the sustainable development strategy has become the consensus for building a peaceful and developing society. Rapid economic growth is achieved largely by consumption of great amount of resources in our rapidly developing modern society. If this continued, resources will be difficult to sustain, and environment will be overwhelmed. Naturally, discarding the cost of sacrificing the environment and pursuing a harmonious coexistence between man and nature for sustainable development would become an inevitable choice for the survival and long-term development of an enterprise. It is estimated by the Department of environmental protection that 80% of the pollutant was released by enterprises. So it is legitimately the enterprises' commitment to protect the environment, and to prevent and control pollution. High consumption of energy and material, as well as high pollution, not only affects market competitiveness of China's iron and steel enterprises, but also increases pollution to the environment. With the increasingly fierce competition of the iron and steel enterprises and the pressing needs of human beings to protect the environment, how to enhance the green competitiveness of our iron and steel enterprises is particularly important to win the fierce competition in the market.Thereby, based on Porter's theory of competitive advantage, this thesis makes a systematic analysis on the status of the green competitiveness and the influential factors to iron and steel industry and their effect mechanism. Double logarithm modals were also set up here. Firstly, data of Chinese iron and steel industry from 1997 to 2006 has been chosen to do empirical test and analysis. Then on the base of comparison between Chinese iron and steel industry and the international iron and steel industry, green manufacturing architecture is constructed here and the effective way is proposed to enhance the green competitiveness of our iron and steel industry, that is, to carry out green manufacture by developing recycling economy, implementing clean production and practicing the energy-saving and emission-reducing strategies.
