Application Of Enterprise Assets Management (EAM) In Power Generation Enterprises

Since 2002 for electric power system reform, our power industry has the rapid development. Market opening and the resulting competition forced the power enterprise to speed up the informationization progress to improve their management level. Eventually, the power enterprise aim to achieve cost efficiency. As the asset-intensive enterprises, construction of power generation enterprise informationization is inseparable from the focus of attention on the EAM. In this paper, power generation and production characteristics of the enterprise management industry, combined with the wave of information technology and the background of power system reform, analyze the issues and causes in current EAM applications of our power generation enterprises. Combining with the needs of power generation enterprises management software features, author proposed the recommendations of EAM application and implementation in power generation enterprises. This paper can be divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of EAM. It summarizes the theoretical basis of EAM, the system features and development path. And on this basis, analyze the difference between EAM and ERP.The second part is the analysis of power generation enterprise informationization and the necessity of EAM application. It describe the status of power generation enterprise informationization through the analysis on the situation of the power generation enterprise informationization construction. Meanwhile, analyze the characteristics of our power generation enterprises, including the production management of power generation enterprises and the needs of power generation enterprises management software features.The third part is the focus of this article. It introduced the characteristics of power generation enterprises and the implementation methods. It discusses the general application of EAM in the power generation business by analyzing the EAM flow.In Section 4, under the general law of the EAM application in the power generation companies, we proposal an evaluation index system. And we give some recommendations and responses for the problems in the EAM application and implementation. The goal of the power industry are pursuit of maximum profit target production. It is worth mentioning that, in introducing part of the basics of the power industry, the author considers it necessary to specifically introduce the basic situation of China's electric power system reform, because it is unique to China's power industry.A good EAM system can play the role of platform and tools effectively. If the EAM system is adopted by the power generation companies, the investment of theoretical researches and management ideas will be increased. At the same time, the asset lifecycle management for the enterprise can be realized; the companies operational efficiency will be maxed.In the end, proposed some recommendations for the corresponding problems in EAM application and Implementation and summarized author's view point and forecasted the EAM application trends.
