Recently, in pace with the emergence of a series of problems, such as environmental deterioration and global warming, carbon emission reduction has become a common target in worldwide scope. China is a great power in carbon emission issues. Tough United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) ranks China as a non annex I party, which need not to make a commitment in emission reduction at present, China makes a promise to the whole world that it will reduce their energy intensity per GDP in aggregate by 40%-45% below their 2005 levels by 2020 in Copenhagen climate conference.China has made enormous achievements in attracting FDI since reform and opening, but while FDI lift the economy of China, it also brought environmental disruption problems. Take consider of economic development and environmental protection, this dissertation chooses influence of FDI on China industrial sector's carbon emission as a direction to study. This dissertation first illustrates research background and relevant literature survey home and abroad, makes analysis on carbon emission effects in economic theory and qualitative review, which provides theoretical base to the empirical part. Then it draws conclusions from empirical analysis of scale effect and structure effect: there is a correlation between FDI and total amount of industrial sector's carbon emission in China; FDI takes a large proportion in some high carbon emission industries, the situation which described in'hypothesis of pollution haven theory'exists in China,at the same time FDI takes a large proportion in some low carbon emission industries, FDI plays a positive effect to industrial sector's carbon emission in China. At last it puts forward five countermeasures to rationally utilize the FDI under the premise of keeping sustainable development of economy.
