The Measurement And Empirical Research Of Organizational Forgetting

The central theme of this paper is to explore the issue of the measurement of Organizational Forgetting. OF, the objective phenomenon existing in the process of knowledge management, is complementation with Organizational Learning and both of them drive the development of organizational knowledge. Unfortunately OF has not been the same attention as OL. For now, the theory of OF is still in exploration and development stage. With weak literature base and not systematic research, only few articles started looking into OF as the core of their research. The most pressing matter of the moment is to hackle and review the literature detailed, to clarify the connotation and extension of OF, to develop the measurement scales at this stage of OF. It is also an important basis for further development.This paper redefined the definition of the OF at the basis of the definition and theoretical foundation, and then use it develop a measurement scale. According to the research of Churchill(1979), adopted literature review, academic counseling, focus group interview and survey to develop the measurement scale, it also adopted correlation analysis, factor analysis and SEM to test the validity and reliability of measurement scale. There are five chapters that detailed the empirical research.Chapter one "Introduction" proposed the main issue of the research, expounded the necessity of this research and explained the possible innovations, research method and framework.In chapter two, "Literature Review", interviewed the existing research. Based on the definition, type and the related theories of the OF, this section summarized the problem and limitation of the research.In chapter three, "Constructing measurement model", after reviewed the measurement theory of the OF, and based on the research of Churchill(1979), this paper analyzed the definition, measurement dimension and index system according to the this step:defining the variable, determining the concept, data collecting, refining measurements and the factor testing.Chapter four is "Empirical study", and it is in accordance with the specific methods and specifications to start drafting. Firstly we analyzed the research methods which were used in this paper; secondly we designed the initial questionnaire, carried out the pre-survey and the large sample survey; finally putting the data into statistics and analysis.In chapter 5, we summarized the whole research, and also supposed the research prospect in this field.
