Shanxi Province has entered the phase of transition from industrial economy towards service economy, have laid a foundation for upgrading its industry structure. The development of service industry have very significant meaning for Shanxi's economy and society. Plenty of research have indicated that informatization have a strong pulling force towards service industry. But until now, there is no quantitative analysis about the driving force between Shanxi's informatization and service industry.The theoretical basis of the paper is presented firstly, including the definition of information industry, informatization and service industry, demonstrating information technology(IT) used in service industry, the dependence degree on IT of service industry, as well as the operating principles of IT to service industry. There is two implication of informatizaiton, the development of information industry itself and the infiltration of IT to other industry.Chapter 2 investigates the present condition of Shanxi's service industry and the level of informatization through positive analysis, indicating that the size of Shanxi's information industry is very small, not playing a leading roll in economy, lagging far behind the national level. The Information Development Index(IDI) of Shanxi is greater and growing faster than that of the whole nation now. The added value of Shanxi service industry Per capita is obviously smaller than that of china, and its proportion in economy is smaller too.Chapter 4 uses the quantitative analysis method to study the influence of information industry on service industry, draws a conclusion that when the logarithm of the former increases one unit, the logarithm of the latter will increase 0.4689 in the long run, and 0.2211 in the short run. The development of information industry is the granger cause of the growth of service industry, and the lag phase is 4 years. Further more,the paper finds that when the logarithm of information industry increases one unit, the logarithm of TPC (transportation, post and communication industry), WRCQ(wholesale, retail, catering and quarter industry), BI(banking and insurance industry) and RE (real estate industry) will increase 0.5106,0.5947, 0.1952 and 0.5395 respectively. The lag phase of their granger Cause-and-effect relationship is all 1 year.Chapter 5 improves the Cobb-Douglas production function, uses the revenue of information Industry and IDI of Shanxi to quantize the IT factor inputs in service industry, comes to a conclusion. when the logarithm of the information industry increases one unit, the logarithm of the service industry will increase 0.4513. Meanwhile, it will increase 0.226415 unit when the logarithm of IDI increases 1. There are 4 Subindicator of IDI, including infrastructure index, usage index, education index, environment index and information consumption index. When they increases 1 unit respectively, the logarithm of Shanxi's service industry will increases 0.3670,0.1518,0.0387,0.2123 and 0.2147. So, Shanxi should lay stress on the development of information infrastructure and enhance people's information consumption level.Chapter 6 gives some advice on developing Shanxi's service industry from three dimension, including developing information industry, using IT to reform traditional service industry, and improving the informatization level of Shanxi. The local government of Shanxi should play an leading role in developing information industry, and emphasis on rising the informatization level of the vast rural areas.
