Since 1950s urban areas, Metropolis, urban agglomeration and other new urban structures have emerged and gradually improved in all countries, becoming new direction of a modern urban system. It's certain significance for urban sound and harmonious development that form shape and spatial structure of metropolitan evolution, management mechanism and control theory. As the economic center in Southern wing of Yangtze River Delta, Ningbo, relying on Shanghai and Hangzhou, is creating a set of advanced manufacturing base, the modern logistics center and transportation hub as one of the metropolitan area. This paper reveals the superiority development of Ningbo metropolitan to determine the spatial structure meanings, discussing from the geographical, administrative divisions, transportation, economic ties and using economic contact strength model to quantify the economic space of Ningbo Metropolitan:Ningbo City as the center showing three circle system, respectively, from inside to outside that is center (City Center), within the circle (the core), outside the circle (closely circling), and according to the three-layered partition, through urban specialization index, classification characteristics, location quotient and urban flow intensities model, using qualitative and quantitative methods to analysis mechanism of evolution of Ningbo Metropolitan Spatial Structure, it points out that the imperfect development of Ningbo metropolitan that is the urban central imperfect development, structural imbalances within the circle system, integration needed to be raised outside the circle, combining development goals of the three spheres in Ningbo metropolitan, purposefully to present space structure optimization strategy.
