Micro-dynamic Of Spatial Structure Evolution In Metropolitan Area

Since reformation and opening up, the process of urbanization has been accelerated.Owing to the function of the unbalance development law, the development speeds of supercities are much faster than that of small and medium cities, the urban area to which issimilar west countries' metropolis appearing.At the same time, mostly the regional structure evolution speeds of internal metropolispick up, evolves from single-center structure to star form, even to multi-center structure.This kind of phenomenon caused research interests in the urban scholars. Two kinds ofconcepts and paradigms of spatial structure and regional structure of metropolis regioncome forth.The metropolis is complex adaptive system that has multi-agent structuralcharacteristic. Its evolution of spatial and regional structure all proceeding from samemicro-mechanism, namely the macroscopic emergent results come from nonlinearinteraction of a great deal of micro-agents.According to above understandings, in virtue of multi-agent theory, themicro-mechanism of spatial structure evolution of metropolis being studied.In theories study process, integrating multi-disciplinary methods and techniques suchas multi-agent system theory, urban economics, urban sociology, regional economics,physical geography etc., and combining together with traditional urban geographical theoryand economic geographical theory, this paper designed the multi-agent urban systemframework that is applicable to metropolis. Based on this foundation, the developmenthistory, presenting conditions, dynamic structures of spatial structure in Guangzhoumetropolis are studied thoroughly, and then the future evolution trends are predicted, andsome measures are put forward in the end.The paper is divided into seven chapters, the former four chapters are theoretical part,the latter three chapters are empirical research of Guangzhou metropolis. The former fourchapters respectively are the framework of multi-agent urban system, and the elaborationsof function mechanism of the system each layer.Chapter one is the framework of multi-agent urban system. Commences from thecomplex adaptive system thoughts, leads in the multi-agent theory, sets up the framework ofmulti-agent urban system, and puts forward its four layers: agent layer, environment layer,policy layer, and exchanging layer.Chapter two is the research of environment layer. Analyzes the influences of differentscale and characteristic physical geography environment to city formation and development,agent location and construction behavior.Chapter three is the policy layer analyses. Leads in the western government theories,analyzes the influence of different government strategy to urban space and its micro-agents,and analyzes the Chinese urban government structures and policy behavior characteristics.Chapter four is the presents of operating mechanisms about agent layer and exchanginglayer in urban regional system. Mainly analyzes each layer properties, behaviorcharacteristics, correlations, and spatial influences. The last section of this chapter integratesresearch results of each layer, concludes several dynamic kinds about spatial structureevolution of urban region, and discusses their influences to urban regional spatial structureand benefits of each kind of agents.The latter three chapters is empirical research of spatial structure evolution dynamic inGuangzhou metropolis, which respectively are history evolution processes, environmentlayer, agent and policy layer, predictions and countermeasures.Chapter five fixes on the empirical study object and its spatial region, and reviewshistory evolution processes of regional spatial structure in Guangzhou city, simply analyzesthe states and dynamic system of regional spatial structure in each period. The last sectionof this chapter is present characteristic analysis of regional spatial structure in Guangzhoucity.Chapter six are micro dynamic system analysis of spatial structure evolution ofGuangzhou metropolitan region. According to the layer sequence of multi-agent urbansystem structure, and based on the natural environment and transportation system analysesof Guangzhou metropolitan region, discusses the spatial evolution dynamic system ofGuangzhou metropolitan region. At last, summarizes the dynamic structural characteristic,dynamic kinds and patterns of spatial structure evolution of Guangzhou metropolitan regionafter reform and open.Chapter seven is the trends predictions and countermeasures of spatial structureevolution in Guangzhou metropolitan region. According to the background of spatialstructure evolution in Guangzhou metropolitan region, this chapter discusses its dynamicstructure changes, predicts the future evolution direction, and analyzes the gap between theevolution trend and planning target, then puts forward the countermeasures.The conclusion part summarizes the basic conclusions, main contributions, andshortages of this paper, and puts forward remaining thesis for further study.
