Under the background of knowledge economy, talented persons are the main motivation for companies to gain core competitions, so, the companies need to be people-oriented and arouse employee's enthusiasm and creativeness sufficiently. Compensation, which is one of the important human resource management tools, if used rationally, can motivate employees effectively. In modern human resource management system, it's one of the important missions and basic constructions for companies to work out scientific and impartial compensation system. The starting point of this paper is to measure the value of every position in the companies, which provide as far as fair and rational compensation to the employees.Point method has been applied commonly to carry out job evaluation internationally, for example, job evaluation system of Group Hay, international position estimation system of Mercer Human Resource Consulting. Point method uses points to signify the value of different positions, makes the results of job evaluation more accurate by way of quantization, what's more, this method is beneficial to embody the significant differences among different positions and is easy for employees to accept it, all of which bring practical significance to this method.It has important guiding significance for companies the contents and character whose jobs are stable to implement job evaluation through point method, especially for some producing companies. Because the specializations of these companies are explicit, the number of positions and staff are large, which make it more difficult to hand out and manage composition. It's good for companies to enhance efficiency of compensation management by defining, comparing, quantifying compensable factors and establishing the standard of compensation management.Referring to large amount of books and documents, the paper first summarizes relevant theories of job evaluation and point method. And then sorts out and improves the processes and details of job evaluation using point method according to a project about a company of Qing Dao to provide lessons for other companies.
