Urban spatial structure is the spatial distribution and combinations of urban internal elements, and the projection of urban politics, economy, and society in space. After reform and opening up, China entered the transition period and its'politics, economy, society and other areas have changed tremendously, along with which its'urban space has also been reconstructed. Rapid economic growth and urgent needs of the expansion of city scale poses a severe challenge to urban developmental space, "space" has become an important strategic competition resource, the development and evolution of urban spatial structure has in a sense become an important way to improve the ability of modern cities to control resources and improve competitiveness. Luoyang is one of the 8 key construction cities at the founding of PRC, 7 of the 156 national key construction projects were arranged in Luoyang in the first five-year plan period. After 50 years of construction and development, it has gradually become a heavy industry base of our country in Central Plains region in which state-owned enterprises are as the mainstay. In Luoyang, Industry accounts for more than half of its'total economy, industry, especially state-owned enterprises are its'core competitiveness and carrier, and are where the advantages and characteristics of Luoyang is. On the impact of marketization, decentralization, and globalization, along with the transformation of state-owned enterprises and upgrading of urban industrial structure, the urban built-up area of Luoyang has expanded obviously; internal urban land use structure has also shifted greatly. Therefore, there is important theoretical and practical significance of studying on the form, process and agent of the urban space restructuring in Luoyang during the transition period. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly illustrates the necessity of the study and the reason why I choose this study area, the second chapter briefly discusses major theories of foreign urban spatial structure and form and domestic research situation. Based on the summary of previous studies, the theory analysis platform of this study is being built on. In Chapter three, I have analyzed the development and changes of the urban space in Luoyang, the changes of central city's construction land and the evolution of industrial and living space, and summarized the characteristics of its spatial structure's evolution . From ancient times, the spatial expansion of Luoyang has undergone six stages: wandering along the river, relative stagnation, expanding with a leap, filling into a contiguous area, spillover to the surrounding, the secondary leap, the direction of urban spreading is from east to west and then to south . From 1991 to 2009, the built-up area of Luoyang increased from 53.1km~2 to 166km~2, showing an allometric growth which does not match with the population growth; Since 1999, the land use structure of Luoyang has undergone two distinct change phases: the first is from 1999 to 2002, mainly filled with internal and secondary external expansion, the year from 2003 to 2008 is a drastic changes phase of land use development, mainly external extension and expansion. Through the study of various land use's fractal morphology from1997 to 2008 , it's found that the dimensions of green land, education and residential land have increased , indicating that the virescence level of Luoyang has improved, and people's living conditions have been gradually improved, getting rid of excessive concentration in the old city, while much extending to the new city area ,and the spatial distribution of residential land becomes more uniform; As the bankruptcy of state-owned enterprises ,the retreat of industries and the arise of service industries in the old industrial area , the industrial structure adjustment and other reasons, the number of industrial land has declined. In chapter four, I have analyzed the influence the transition of state-owned enterprises has on the changes of urban space in Luoyang. Finally, the conclusions of this paper are drawn: Since the founding of PRC, the urban space form of Luoyang evolved from ribbon pattern to "Y" shape ,and then to multi-core group type; The urban leading industries has changed from being dominated by traditional manufacturing into equipment manufacturing, deep-colored processing, electric power, petroleum and chemical, silicon photovoltaic and optoelectronic industry as the leading five major advantages, and the layout of industries shows the trend of multi-center industrial clustering. The commercial space has changed from scattered, street-layout traditional business sizes to concentrated, flake commercial land, the commercial space structure has transformed from linear layout to block. The expansion of living space is from Jianxi area, to the Old Town area and Chan River area, and then to the Xigong area, and finally to the South New Area of Luoyang, "jumping","padding" has been the primary expansion mode of the central city after the liberation, each "jump "embodied the strong will of government. Although the reconstruction of urban space is influenced by multiple factors, but in Luoyang where state-owned enterprises are the leading industries, the impact state enterprises'transition have on the reconstruction of urban spatial structure can not be ignored. In general ,mainly embodied in the following aspects: the structural adjustment of state-owned enterprises directly has promoted the reconstruction of the industrial structure in Luoyang; Unit institutional change has propelled the differentiation of urban residential space; state-owned land system change has motivated changes of land use structure; Large new and extending projects has promoted urban land expansion and the urbanization process; the transformation of enterprises'organization way has prompted multivariate supporting industries concentrating in peripheral satellite towns and industrial areas nearby.
