The new product research and development is the source of enterprise management, and the most important stage in the product life cycle. The quality of the new product R&D is the important index to weigh the manufacture enterprise competitive power, the key aspect affects the R&D quality, simultaneously, and also becomes the key aspect to influence manufacture enterprise competitive power. If the enterprise wants to carry on the successful new product R&D, establish the extra value through product R&D, then it must realize the vital factor the customer participation has.The massive literature indicated that the customer participation can impel the new product R&D process, play the vital role in the each stage of new product R&D, and the customer participation directly affects success and failure in the new product R&D process.This article will base on the Chinese independent R&D enterprises, study the the importance degree of customer participation regarding the enterprise interior new product R&D validaty, as well as how customer participation enhance new product R&D validity and so on.This article proposed "the R&D validity theory and the model"on the basis of the definition and the explanation of"the validity" which science Master Stephen and Shuman proposed in the newest edition《Management science》and《Total Quality Management》. In addition, it divided the validity into the R&D efficiency, effect and benefit, and analyzed the model with the actual case, including the financial norm with the non-financial norm. Moreover, this article selected the independent research and development enterprise to study. Through many times depth interview as well as internal data collection processing research ways to study the the customer participation influnece regarding the research and development validity.In this process, the article heard the interior personnel's suggestion, and combined the financial norm and the non-financial norm characteristics to construct the new product research and development validity appraisal system.Through the data analysis of index system and summary of depth interview content,the article analyzed the customer participation ways and new product R&D validity. The article aims to study the influence of new product R&D validity, how the various participation ways influence the product efficiency, effect, and benefit, and summarize the study. Finally, the article analyzed how enterprises promoted the new product R&D validity with customer participation.
