Intermarriage not only reflects the change and development of a nation's own culture but also manifests the condition of daily interaction and intercommunion among different ethnic groups, which is a key indicator to measuring the degree of the ethnic relations and cultural integration. Hui Muslims believes in Islam following intermarriage and prohibiting exogamy. But with the process of urbanization accelerated in China, more and more Muslims are leaving their homes and entering cities and then becoming migrant workers so that their concept of marriage is taking place. At the same time Muslim'residential Patterns have varied. On the one hand, population in a large scale outflow empties many families, community norms lose the objects. Returning members bring fresh conceptions and retroactively impose them on community norms, consequently such original community functions as education and demonstration is coming to degrade; On the other hand, Hui muslim that flows into cities is not able to form the residential societies, traditional factors can exert less effect on members, moreover, individual ideas are subject to invasion from outer surroundings. In short, in the context of modernization and urbanization, the marriage concept of the Hui Muslim, in particular the floating population will be more or less inevitably changeable. Obviously, behavioral choices depend on ideas, we may make a conclusion that it is the conversion in the concept of ethnic intermarriage that will have a direct impact on their actual behavior of one.In view of the above reasons, this paper, combined with theoretical and empirical research, based on the sociologically macroscopic theory and such other theories as the culture lag , in comprehensive use of sociological research methods such as the documental study, the statistical survey and the deep interview, from "human modernization "perspective, seeing traditional Muslim community residents in the Western and local Muslim ones in Nanjing as a reference group, describes the ethnic intermarriage conception status of Hui floating population in Nanjing from four aspect including the ethnic intermarriage awareness, willingness, expectations, attitudes and evaluation, tells us a vertical route from the tradition to the modern. The author tries to find the reasons for ethnic intermarriage and predicts the result from the act.
