Food is the basic life-support system for human, because the people's livelihood is eating. Food is a special commodity of strategic significance, is an important component of the national security strategy, and is the base of human progress and economic development. However, global food crisis is threatening the world in many countries and regions since the second half 2007. Africa, Asia and Latin America, and some developing countries were seriously affected by this crisis, and the developed countries have not caused any serious repercussions in this food crisis. Although China has avoided from this crisis, we also get some experience from the crisis. Underdeveloped sales areas have many similar characteristics with developing countries in ensuring food security, such as economic underdevelopment, poor people are concentrated. Once China occur food crisis, these areas will be affected first of all. Underdeveloped sales areas are poverty-prone areas, are also food security-prone areas, is weak spots of national food security system. Food security problem is particularly complex and important.This thesis define the underdeveloped sales areas as well as its status and role in ensuring national food security base on cluster analysis and a lot of empirical material. Building food security assessment indicators to evaluate the status of food security in underdeveloped sales areas. Analyze the factors of food security in underdeveloped sales areas by factor analysis, and then sort the various factors affecting. Finally, according to quantitative and qualitative analysis of the preceding operable and then building enduring mechanism of food security for underdeveloped sales areas.This thesis systematic analyses underdeveloped major grain sale areas of food security in regional point of view and study food security factors with factor analysis, at last build enduring mechanism of food security in underdeveloped major grain sale areas, which has some theoretical significance in protection food security and comprehensively push forward the rural reform, development in underdeveloped major grain sale areas.
