| Evaluation of lakes, eco-tourism potentiality is concerned about the potential value of eco-tourism resources, which oriented by the characteristics of wetland resources, environmental sustainability and the land's suitability. The results of potentiality classification provide theoretical support for the exploitation and utilization of eco-tourism destination. In this study, index system of evaluation on eco-tourism potential of urban lakes are constructed basing on the factors that affect eco-tourism. And then different types of typical Wuhan urban lakes are choosed to be evalvated on the basis of investigations. The main results are as follows:(1) System of eco-tourism potential of Urban lakes include three parts:quality of landscape resources, environmental conditions and development conditions. Landscape resources include water(area, shoreline development factor, water transparency), biology(the number of plant species, the number of vegetation types, habitat types), culture (visibility or impact) and other types. Environmental protection for eco-tourism sustainability includes environmental quality (water quality and greening rate), environmental safety (the proportion of invasive species and lakes adjustment factor) and environmental stability (rate of area decrease). Tourism development conditions include accessibility (location and road density)and land suitability (types of landscape and land suitability). Accordingly, the index system is constructed which includes 16 indicators of eco-tourism potential on urban lakes.(2) Analysis of Index weights by the experts marking method and the standard deviation method show that the sequence order of weight in layer is quality of landscape resources>environmental condition security>development conditions which suggests that quality of landscape resources are the basis for tourism potential and the formation for Attractive force and influence force. The sequence order of weight of landscape resources is Water>Biology>Culture, noting that water sight is the main eco-tourism resource. The sequence order of weight of environmental conditions is Stability of the system>Environmental quality> Environmental safety, indicating that stability of eco-tourism is the most important environmental protection conditions.The sequence order of weight of development conditions is Land suitability> Accessibility, indicating that the in eco-tourism development suitability is more important than the tourist market. The much largest weight of index is the rate of lake area decrease, shoreline development index, plant diversity and water quality, suggesting that lake eco-tourism needs stability, a certain size, and good quality of vegetation and water environment.
