| Land, capital and labor are the three basic elements of production, how to allocate the various resources rationally to improve use efficiency is the focus of the study of economics. There are two basic ways of economic growth, the first is the growth of factors input, the second is to increase the efficiency of the factors used. At present, China is during the rapid industrialization and urbanization process, the farmland conversion from agricultural to non-agricultural use is inevitable, but "over-conversion" show that the use of land resources in China is extensive in general, and the productive efficiency of land resources is still relatively low. So how to improve the productive efficiency of land resources in China is another research focus following the "quantity" problem of farmland conversion from agricultural to non-agricultural use, and the protection of agricultural land resources is also dependent on the improvement of land resources productive efficiency.land is the most important and most active basic element in economic activities and its use efficiency is related to the natural conditions of the area and the quantity of the productive factors inputs closely. Therefore, land use efficiency is consisted of productive system with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. We should compare the multiple inputs with the multiple outputs and combine with its comprehensive efficiency to evaluate the level of land use efficiency. Efficiency is a relative concept. As the regional resource endowments, economic strength and the stage of economic development are different, land use efficiency is different. In this study, firstly, we use the C2R model, BC2model and the SE-DEA model to analyze the effectiveness of agricultural land-using efficiency of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan); secondly, we analyze the agricultural land-using efficiency vertically of Hubei Province from1999 to 2008.The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly expounds the background, the purpose and the meaning, and gives a brief summary about agricultural land utilization and agricultural land-using efficiency at home and abroad. In addition, it also introduces the research contents and the methods. The related concepts are defined in the second chapter. It mainly defines agricultural land, agricultural land utilization and agricultural land- using efficiency. We compare land-using efficiency and land productivity, and explain their difference. The third chapter is the brief introduction of data envelopment analysis (DEA). It describes the applicability of DEA as the evaluation method of agricultural land-using efficiency, and the C2R model, BC model and SE-DEA model used in this paper. The forth chapter is empirical analysis. We compare and evaluate agricultural land-using comprehensive efficiency, technology efficiency and scale efficiency of Chinese 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions using data envelopment analysis (DEA) method, and sort the various regions according to the super-efficiency. At the same time, we calculate the value of returns to scale in all regions, analyze the productive stage of each area in which there is increasing returns to scale, decreasing or unchanged. On the basis of those results we propose suggestions optimize the structure of agricultural productive inputs and increase the agricultural land-using efficiency. In the basis of time-series of agricultural land-using inputs and outputs of Hubei Province from 1999 to 2008, we compare longitudinally the change of agricultural land-using efficiency of Hubei Province in 10 years. The last chapter studies the conclusion and the outlook for the research. It summarizes the main results of this paper and raises further study in future. |
