| The free radical polymerization of dimethyldiallylammonium chloride (DMDAAC) with acrylic acid(AA), methyl acrylic acid(MAA) or 2-hydroxyethl acrylate (HEA) in aqueous solution using potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite as the initiator were carried out. The effects of initiator concentrations cI, monomer concentrations cM and reaction temperaturesT on copolymerization rates, determined by the dilatometer method, were investigated, It is found that all the copolymerization rates increase with the increasement of initiator concentrations cI, monomer concentrations cM and reaction temperatures T. The copolymerization dynamic relationships were obtained as follows:â‘ for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and AA: RPâˆcI0.6902cM1.336e-8244/T, the apparent activation energy (Ea)obtained as 68.54 kJ·mol-1.â‘¡for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and MAA: RpâˆcI0.5863cM1.098e-6412K/T, Ea is 53.31 kJ·mol-1.â‘¢for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and HEA: RpâˆcI 1.089cM0.8333 e-12255K/T, Ea is 101.89 kJ·mol-1.The chemical compsition of DMDAAC/AA, DMDAAC/MAA, DMDAAC/HEA copoly- mer at the lower conversion(<10%) has been determined by Mohr Method. The reactivity ratios of DMDAAC and AA, MAA or HEA have been obtained by KT method and YBR method, respectively, and the results are as follows:â‘ for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and AA: rDMDAAC=0.0998, rAA=1.737.â‘¡for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and MAA: rDMDAAC=1.687, rMAA=1.668.â‘¢for the copolymerization of DMDAAC and AA: rDMDAAC=0.08373, rHEA=2.257.The free radical copolymerization of DMDAAC, AA and HEA in aqueous solution using potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite as the initiator were carried out. The effects of initiator concentrations cI, monomer concentrations cM and reaction temperatures T on copolymerization rates were determined. The copolymerization dynamic relationships were obtained as RpâˆcI0.9439cM1.100e-4625/T, the apparent activation energys obtained as 38.45 kJ·mol-1.Reactive brilliant red was chosen as a model dye to evaluate the color fastness of as-prepared DMDAAC/AA/HEA terpolymer. The effect of terpolymer concentration, molecular weights and monomer molar ratio in feeds on the color fixation yield of cotton fabric which have been dyed by active brilliant red were investigated. The results show that fixation yield increase with the increase of terpolymer concentration, molecular weights, while the fixation yield increases and then decreases with the increase of the proportion of DMDAAC in feeds, the highest fixation yield occurs at the proportion of 0.6. The effects of initiator concentration and molar ratio in feeds on the dye uptake and fixation yield of cotton fabric modified by terpolymer were further studied. The results show that both dye uptake and fixation yeild increase with increasing of polymer concentration, proportion of DMDAAC in feeds and initiator concentration. |
