Acrylic polymer is a kind of important monomer, for molecules containing alpha, beta unsaturated double bond, that can build thousands of polymers with unique properties used in synthetic resin, synthetic rubber, adhesives, synthetic fiber, high absorbent resin, pharmaceutical, leather, textile, chemical fiber, building materials, water treatment, oil, paint industries. In this paper, the hydrolysis and transesterification of methyl acrylate with water or acetic acid catalyzed by cation resin A and B were investigated, and the kinetic equation of reaction was obtained.First of all, the catalyst of cation resin was firstly tested to sure which one is suitable for the hydrolysis and transesterification of methyl acrylate in a batch autoclave reactor.Second, effect of reaction temperature, catalyst loading and mole ratio of water to MA or acetic acid to MA on the conversion rate of methyl acrylate was studied in batch autoclave reactor. By dealing with data, the quasi-homogeneous kinetics equation of hydrolysis and transesterification of methyl acrylate was obtained.Again, effect of space-time, reaction temperature and molar ratio of acetic acid to MA on the transesterification of methyl acrylate was investigated in fixed bed under atmospheric pressure catalyzed by resin B, and the optimal reaction parameters was obtained. Meanwhile, the lifetime of resin B was tested in fixed-bed reactor for the transesterification of methyl acrylate. Lastly, Supplement the binary phase diagram of methyl acrylate transesterification system, one reaction distillation process was proposed and optimized, and good results were obtained from the simulation of catalytic distillation process for the synthesis of acrylic acid.
