It is an important problem in the coal mine safety production to monitor thetunnel roof displacement. The paper has designed an on-line monitoring systemof roof separation by using wireless transmission, which provides a reliablytechnical support for roof support in the tunnel.Designed by the paper, the system of roof displacement data acquisitionand transmission in the tunnel is mainly divided into three parts: data acquisitionnode, communication substation and upper monitor. The data acquisition nodehas been installed every50meters to timely capture data of roof separation inthe tunnel. And each node transmits data to communication substation by theway of relay transmission through the ZigBee or485mixed transmission mode.Each tunnel configures a communication substation that stores separation data ofall nodes and displays data in the tunnel. And at the same time, thecommunication substation communicates with upper monitor by Ethernet-modeor485-mode. The upper monitor collects separation data of communicationsubstation from each tunnel, and stores, manage and analysis the data. Becausebattery is the main energy of data acquisition nodes, it is the mainly restrictionfactor of reducing consumption in the design. We designed a synchronous communication mechanism of time-sleep and time-wake-up, which is the mainenergy saving measures.Each communication substation can connect64sets of data acquisitionnode at most, which can meet the3000m tunnel roof separation monitoringrequirements. The displacement measurement accuracy of data acquisition nodeis less than5mm; after the low power design is completed by collaborating thesoftware and hardware, the average daily power consumption is only2.63mAh,by which a2.4Ah lithium battery can supply power for1year. The tunnel roofdisplacement monitoring system designed by the paper has gotten productcertification from Chongqing Coal Science Research Institute. At present thesystem has been applied in Sihou mine and Wangzhuang mine in Shanxiprovince.
