The preliminary processing of fresh medicinal materials refers to process harvest fresh herbs just before scientific processing and dry immediately, which is to shorten the drying time, purify medicinal parts from recovery sites, prevent to be damaged by worms or microorganisms and convenient for store or transport. However, on account of the enzymes’ and symbiotic microorganisms’ effects, index component probably conversion or degrade during the course from fresh medicinal material to dry, which probably result in the change of the quality and efficacy of medicinal materials. Therefore, by the appropriate preliminary processing technology to maximize the preservation of medicinal materials index component is the vital step in the preliminary processing of fresh medicinal materials.Five fresh medicinal materials:Belamcanda chinensis (L.) DC., Mallonia fonunei(Lindl.)Fedde, Smilax glabra Roxb, Lotus leaf and Eleutherococcus senticosus, which is not explicitly specify the drying methods in the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia"(2010version), were researched in this study. According to the ChP2010, to study on the impact of different drying methods on the content of effective components of five fresh medicinal materials to determine the best drying methods and the best preliminary processing technologies, and proving a basis for further improve the ChP based on fresh fresh medicinal materials as well. There are five parts in the experiment.1. Study on the preliminary processing technologies based on fresh Belamcandae chinensis rhizome. Irisflorentin is used as the target compounds of Belamcandae chinensis. The processing methods including dried in the sun, dried in the shade, dried at55℃, dried at85℃, dried at105℃, was used to determine the best drying method is dry two hours under105℃, by comparing the content of mark components under different drying methods.2. Study on the preliminary processing technologies based on fresh Mallonia fonunei(Lindl.)Fedde. Berberine and palmatine chloride are used as the target compounds of medicinal materials. The processing methods including dried in the sun, dried in the shade, dried at45℃,dried at55℃, dried at85℃, dried at105℃, was used to determine the best preliminary processing technology, by comparing the content of mark components under different drying methods. The research result shows that there is a impact to content of the effective components by using different drying methods. The content of berberine is the highest at45℃drying time, and the content of palmatine chloride is the highest drying in the sun. In the actual production and application, therefore, should be given priority to with amount of berberine, drying in oven under45℃was determined as the best preliminary method.3. Study on the preliminary processing technologies based on fresh Smilax glabra Roxb. Astilbin is used as the target compounds of Smilax glabra Roxb. The processing methods including dried in the sun, dried in the shade, dried at35℃, dried at55℃, dried at85℃, dried at105℃, was used to determine the best drying method is dry two hours under35℃, by comparing the content of mark components under different drying methods.4. Study on the preliminary processing technologies based on fresh Lotus leaf, nuciferin is used as the target compounds of Lotus leaf. The processing methods including dried in the sun, dried in the shade, dried at35℃, dried at55℃, dried at85℃, dried at105℃, was used to determine the best drying method is drying in the sun, by comparing the content of mark components under different drying methods.5. Study on the preliminary processing technologies based on fresh Eleutheroco-ccus senticosus, syringin is used as the target compounds of Eleutherococcus senticosus. The processing methods including dried in the sun, dried in the shade, dried at35℃, dried at55℃, dried at85℃, dried at105℃, was used to determine the best preliminary processing technology, by comparing the content of mark components under different drying methods. The result shows that there is a impact to content of the effective components by using different drying methods. The best preliminary method is dry in the shade.
