The Design Of Kitchen Utensils Based On The Cooking Habits

In the global context, Chinese culture with an extremely inclusiveness, keeps being impacted and affected by the global culture, especially the western culture. Since the reform and opening up, its popularity makes the Chinese way of life change dramatically, including the most important part of life, that is, the food culture. Being under the influence of modern western culture, splendid Chinese food culture blossoms throughout the world at the same time. As an important ingredient of food culture, the design of the kitchenware has received people’s increasing attention. However, constantly absorbing foreign advanced design idea, domestic study on kitchenware has been attaching insufficient importance to researches in the changes of Chinese cuisine and eating habits.Against the backdrop of researches in the changes of Chinese cuisine and eating habits, this paper explores the kitchenware design in the visual threshold of globalization. It includes the following parts:changes in food culture both at home and abroad, followed by the changes in the way of cooking, basic requirements of kitchenware, and the underlying philosophical and social factors, finally a natural conclusion concerning later research direction and trend of China kitchenware design is arrived. Through the understanding of the characteristics of Chinese cuisine, we will have a thorough study on the development of Chinese kitchenware as well as the reference to the western design of kitchenware in theoretical sense, or the integration of both. This paper aims that the reader may achieve a better understanding of the domestic consumers in the food preparation and their buying habits, hoping that by constantly drawing lessons from western designs in the aspects of nutrition, safety, man-machine and aesthetic taste, Chinese kitchenware design may prosper and offer kitchenware which are more consistent with Chinese cuisine habits.
