The machining surface features of parts has great influence on its use of performance.In order to make the parts have good surface properties, the researchers proposed the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting method. In the process, selecting the appropriate process parameters can significantly improve processing conditions, cutting tool machining in a special movement track, which improved the machining efficiency and the processing surface quality of workpiece.This paper beginning with the tool rake angle dynamics of the process of movement, analyzing the ultrasonic vibration cutting machining mechanism and favorable factors that the dynamic rake angle brings. The results showed that the dynamic rake angle can reduce the depth of cut resistance and longer tool life. Studying beneficial processing properties of impact loads based on the theory of fracture mechanics, kinematics and energetics, then analyzing the mechanism of impact loads to improve the fatigue life. From dynamic mechanical properties of materials, this paper expounding the relation between yield strength of material and strain rate produced by the impact pressure of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting. Then this paper expounding the causes of the processing surface characteristics and the cutting temperature, and studying the impact on them by ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting. Designing the sandwich lamination double ultrasonic transducer bending elliptic cutting, and by using ANSYS finite element analysis system and simulation. Finally, using ordinary cutting and ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting on the three kinds of materials for machining respectively, and using the surface contourgraph, micro hardness meter and infrared camera to measure the surface roughness, surface hardness and cutting temperature of the materials. Comparing analysis of the experimental results, they verified the processing surface characteristics of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting is superior to which of the ordinary machining; ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting can be greatly reduced surface roughness and cutting heat compared to the ordinary cutting, and enhance the hardening degree of processed surface, so as to improve the surface fatigue life.
