Dust particles in the atmosphere is not only an important factor in causing urban particulate pollution, but also a key factor in causing contact failure inside the electronic equipment. Although there are many dust chambers on the market, which can simulate the sandy environment experiments and can test the protective degree of the shells, there is few experimental device, which is proper for studying the effect of dust on electronic components inside the electronic equipment, To meet the requirement of dust particles size and cumulative weight on samples, it is necessary to design and manufacture a quantitative controlled equipment for dust spraying.Based on the comparison of the specifications of the dust simulation equipment existing domestic and overseas, this paper presented a small dust simulation device to meet the basic requirements in the further research experiments. It mainly included dust screening module and dust spraying module from functional perspective, which can realize the screening function of the particle size, and the evenly distribution of the dust particles, as well as the weight control. From the design process of this device, three aspects, the mechanical module, the control feedback module, and experimental verification, were discussed in detail.In this design, the mechanical module involved in the theoretical calculation, process design, materials selection and verification work, etc. A motor driven the eccentric block to do circular motion by connecting with a torsion spring. The double layers mesh structures do reciprocating vibration in the vertical direction under the combined effects of the eccentric block doing circular motion and the axial tensile and compression of four springs, so that dust particles of the desired size range can be screened for experiments. The structural design of a chamber for depositing dust particles on the samples was also carried out. The control feedback module adopted AD conversion chip with high precision to convert the weight of deposited dust on test samples. A single chip microcomputer was used to do the data process and control the blower module so as to effectively improve the uniformity and the amount of dust on test samples. At last, by simulation experiments, the effectiveness of dust particle screening and even dust depositing was validated.
