Boiling stirred tank reactor is a relatively special operated reactor which is very different from cool aerated or hot sparged reactor. Heaters generate vapor directly rather than aeration cause the significant discrepancy. However, most designations of boiling stirred tank reactor are based on results that are concluded from cool aerated reactors, making the deviation or even mistakes in practice.Electrical conductivity methed was used to measure mixing time in a boiling stirred tank of476mm diameter. The influence of impeller speed, solid fraction, gas flow rate, type of impeller and impeller diameter on mixing time were investigated. The results show that mixing time increases with the growth of solid fraction or gas flow rate. This effect is particularly evident at low power consumption. The WHD impeller has a more short mixing time than CBY impeller. The performance of impellers with0.4T diameters is better than impellers with0.33T.
