Vegetables direct network sales is a new field of e-commerce, which has rapidly developed recently. Beijing Haoyu Company is a green organic vegetable production sale company. In recent years, using the business model of direct network sales of vegetables and providing consumers with "farm-to-door" delivery service, the company got the favor of consumers, therefore the business scale is growing fast. However, the traditional workshop production operation mode of its machining center leads to low efficiency and increases the difficulties of workshop management, which cannot meet the demand of the increasing orders. Currently, the company is building a new machining center in order to improve operational efficiency to meet the growing sales demand by packaging and sorting vegetables at the form of flow shop. However, due to the particularity of vegetable and the online marketing mode, the flow shop mode that traditional industries commonly use does not suit to deal with packaging and sorting the vegetable. What’s more, the orders of this company have such peculiarities:a large number of batches, a small quantity in one batch, more personalized, and strong timeliness. So the flow shop is suffering with troubles.In order to solve this problem, this paper deeply analyzes the process of vegetable packaging and sorting, and abstracts the problem as a series-parallel multi-stage multi-server queuing problem with time windows. It will make use of the related theories of pipeline design, the methods of queuing theory, and discrete event simulation technology in this study to build a simulation model of the machining center’s work process. Provide the company with decision supports of pipeline configuration and process planning by designing and running the simulation schemes. In this article, the specific research work are as follows:(1) The operation process analysis and planning of Vegetables’machining center. Firstly, through the investigation of the demand and status quo of Haoyu Company’s vegetables’machining center, the related theory of pipeline are used to design the flow shop mode of machining center, and also the capacity is confirmed. Secondly, analyze the characteristics of pipeline processing of the machining center in-depth, determine the research question is that a series-parallel multi-stage multi-server queuing problem with time windows, which will provide foundation for the next step research.(2) The construction of the simulation model of vegetables’machining center. According to the characteristics of the queuing system of the machining center, the conceptual model of the queuing system is defined,and the boundaries and goals of the simulation model are determined as wel.Finally,the simulation model of the vegetables’ machining center is constructed combining the actual situation of Haoyu Company and the research objectives of this article.(3) The simulation schemes designing and the results analysis. To complete the current scale of business,this article designs simulation schemes and runs the model. By designing simulation schemes of different parameters combinations and analyzing the results, this article provides decision-making basis for the management and scheduling of the company’s machining center.The proposed layout simulation model improves the operation efficiency of the company’s machining center, ensures that it can meet the demand of orders and provides the decision-making basis for the management scheduling of the company’s workshop, provides theoretical reference for construction and management of machining center in fresh e-commerce enterprises.
