D-alanine is a non-natural amino acid. As an important source of organic chirality,D-alanine is mainly used in chiral drug, chiral additive, chiral auxiliary and other fields.Preparation of D-alanine includes microbial fermentation and chemical synthesis. There aredisadvantages in chemical synthesis such as high production cost and low optical purity,therefore not suitable for industrial D-alanine production. D-alanine production by microbialfermentation shows a broad application prospects. The design of D-alanine fermentationfactory is necessary because there is no large-scale factory for D-alanine production in China.This study is entitled as "Design of D-alanine fermentation factory with annual productionof100tons ". The contents mainly include selection of the factory location, general layoutdesign, technical process design, process calculation (material balance, heat balance, waterbalance, steam balance etc.), design and selection of the equipments, layout design ofworkshop, safe production in enterprise and environmental protection, economic budget andbenefit analysis of the plant and so on. The factory set up in Zhangjiagang.the factory area is30000square meters, building factor of30%, green factor of32%. Every day the steamconsumption is4.5×104kg. the peak steam was5.66×103kg/h. Daily water consumption is1368T.the peak water use is68t/h. Daily consumption of1.92×104kw. Factory with anannual output100tons D-alanine,DL-alanine yield by20%,earnings15million annually.The results of the design include a design specification and seven design drawings. Thedesign drawings include layout design of factory, process diagram of fermentation workshop,layout of fermentation workshop, assembly drawings of important production equipments(seed tank, fermentation tank, single-effect concentration tank, crystallization tank).This design concept is economical, efficient and environmentally friendly. In the design,advanced equipments and technology are adopted in order to obtain products with the highestquality at the costs of the lowest consumption and minimum pollution.
