In the ever-changing world of fashion design on runway, the styles are alwaysdifferent. In China Fashion Week, for instance, from1997to2013a total of839collections were released, take35as the average number of a single show’s looks,nearly30,000sets of design works displayed on the stage of China Fashion Week.What inspires the designers or where do the inspirations come from? They are not thatuntraceable actually, study from the perspective of Cultural study, we can findsomething that have not been found yet, some facts even the designer themselves donot realize.As it is widely known that Cultural study is a kind of interdisciplinary as wellas anti-disciplinary research, it is easy for us to find all kinds of culturalrepresentations from the fashion design. On the one hand, fashion design is dominatedby ideology and it’s a relatively static process, meanwhile, it is also an open anddynamic process. In other words, fashion design is not only affected by certaincultural trends, but also be influenced by various factors of social development. Rightwith these interwoven factors, the fashion culture of Beijing come into being.The thesis is divided into four main parts, Chapter One is an overview of thefashion show, Chapter Two is about the cultural representations of China fashionWeek and case studies, Chapter Three is about the cultural construction of ChinaFashion Week, Chapter four is about the social and cultural factors which affected thefashion culture of Beijing.
