S system is a highly precision numerical method, which is applied in solving biological or chemical computational problems. Firstly recasts fundamental equations into S-system and then solve the differential equations by variable order and variable step Taylor series. This method has such characteristics as high accuracy, error foresight, wide applicability and high efficiency. The process of oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide in the fixed bed reactor was studied by S-system, and the influences of feeding temperature, operating pressure, cooling medium temperature were examined. The results show that feeding temperature has little effect on hot spot temperature and selectivity of Ethylene Oxide. Operating pressure and cooling medium temperature are sensitive parameters for hot spot temperature. Besides, conversion of Ethylene increases with increasing of operation pressure and cooling medium temperature while selectivity of Ethylene Oxide decreases. The paper also established the traditional high-pressure hydration model, catalytic hydration model, ethylene carbonate model for preparation of ethylene glycol, and then carried on S-system method in simulation analysis. Mainly discussed the effects of different hydration ratio on above three kinds of methods for the synthesis of EG. Results show that as the widely used high-pressure hydration process in industry, the ratio of water and ethylene oxide is a major factor affecting the product distribution, while temperature and pressure has little influence on it. Catalytic hydration method can greatly reduce the water ratio, using the anion exchange resin Amberjet4200/HCO3as an example, result show that when the water ratio is5~10, the conversion of epoxy ethane is close to100%, and the selectivity of ethylene glycol is more than90%, but the thermal stability of the catalyst should be further enhanced. Simulation study on the ethylene carbonate method shows that the water ratio decreased to2-5, and under the hydrolysis temperature of170℃, pressure of4MPa, the conversion of EC is99.5%, the selectivity of ethylene glycol is99.3%, the formation of diethylene glycol almost none during the process. So this method has low water ratio, high conversion and high selectivity rate, compared with the traditional method it shows very strong superiority...
