Changqing Sulige gas field is a large lithologic gas field with typical low pressure, lowpermeability, low abundance, low yield but strong reservoir heterogeneity, and therefore, hasrelatively poor profits with straight wells and the conventional directional wells. In order toimprove the developing effect of Sulige gas field, increase the yield of block mining, andthereafter to lower the production cost, develop more reasonably and effectively, ChangqingSulige gas field has introduced a new model of horizontal wells and conducted relatedtechnology research and application, which, characterized by being able to increase the contactarea between production wells and production level, reduce the production pressure difference,and greatly improve the single well production, has long been regarded as a proficienttechnical improvement to develop oil and gas reservoir in modern petroleum industry.However, in the drilling in the construction process, it has been besetting the engineering andtechnical personnel how to improve the drilling speed, and shorten the drilling cycle in theconstruction of horizontal wells.To deal with the problems of horizontal well development and the technique difficultiesin Sulige gas field, researches have been done in this paper by analyzing of the presentsituation and the application of fast drilling technology and summarizing the difficulties andexperience of the construction of horizontal well, from aspects of its casing, the trajectoryprofile design, track control, bore bit selection, drilling fluid system and drill combinatorialoptimization and etc. The key technology for fast drilling horizontal wells in this area has beenfound out and successfully tried out.Certainly, the study on rapid drilling technique of horizontal gas well of Sulige hasmuch theoretical significance and practical value in improving the drilling speed, shorteningthe drilling cycle, reducing drilling cost and speeding up the process of oil and gas resourcesexploration and development, and has a broad prospect of application and provides thetechnical basis for the efficient development of horizontal wells in the field.
