This article uses grafted polymerization for synthesis. We used epoxy resin for matrix, and grafted acrylic monomers to form subject resin. Then after the ionization reaction we got the cathodic electrophoretic coating with cationic resin. At last,it is emulsified into the cathodic electrophoretic coating.The experiment used grafted polymerization to graft acrylic monomers to the main chain of epoxy resin. We choosed appropriate monomer as crosslinking groups to make the cross-linked acrylic grafted epoxy resin which is suitable for the cathodic electrophoretic coating. We discussed the influence of the kind of resins, reaction temperature, reaction time and the right catalyst for the stability and dispersion of the synthetic resin. What is more, we used FT-IR and DSC to analyze the structures of the polymer. According to the chart analysis, it shows that the reaction is for chemical modification, not for the common sense of physical blend.The experiment modified the synthetic resins with different functional groups to make different epoxy acrylic resin, such as epoxy acrylate, chlorine glycerin modified epoxy acrylate, silane low polymer blends with epoxy acrylate, organic silane coupling agent modified epoxy acrylate. And we discussed the grafting copolymerization reaction process of the modified epoxy resin and acrylic ester monomer. Compared with the epoxy acrylate resin product which is not for modification, the coating gloss and flexibility of modified resin is better. Finally, we use FT-IR, Tg, DSC, the instrument of particle size distribution, density meter, rotating viscometer to describe the resin and emulsion.Let me discuss the painting process of cathodic electrophoretic coating. It shows that the change of electrophoretic parameters is important for paint film property. Experiment mainly discussed the principle of Cathodic electrophoretic coating, the pretreatment of Metal substrate, and the control of electrophoresis process parameters. The electrophoretic parameters include electrophoresis voltage, electrophoretic time, amount of antifoaming agents and dispersant, the temperature of bath, and the content of solid of bath. We also conduct the orthogonal electrophoresis experiment. We ensure the experiment conditions as followings. Temperature is28℃, electrophoretic time is3min, electrophoresis voltage is 220V, the content of solid is20%,the content of defoaming agent is1%. By Observing the electrophoresis photos of the steel, we found organic silane coupling agent modified epoxy acrylate is the best.The experiment measure the quality of steel electrophoretic film, including crosscuttest, cup drawing test, Impact resistance test, salt spray test. According to the measure, the adhesion of the paint film and salt-fog performance is fair.
