Textile inkjet printing has attracted many people’s attention for noncontact printingand eco-friendliness. Nano-coated pigment has the advantages of small particle size, highcoloring intensity and bright and pure color. In addition, polymer shell plays a role ofbinder in forming a separate film on pigment particles which was fixed onto fabric, thuseffectively improving the color fastness of inkjet printing fabrics. In this paper, thefactors of preparing UV-cured pigment/latex were discussed, the coating process wereanalyzed, the properties of the fabrics printed by UV-cured pigment/latex ink werestudied and the fixing process of latex was analyzed.Results show that in the preparation of pigment/monomer/water (P/O/W)miniemulsion, the structure and quantity of surfactant,cosurfactant and monomer andultrasonic time are closely related to the particle size of P/O/W miniemulsion. Theoptimal recipe is10%pigment content based on weight,25%mass ratio of DNS-86topigment,2%mass ratio of HD to St,2%mass ratio of AIBN to St, and2%mass ratio ofphoto-initiator to St, ultrasonic for30min. DNS-86adsorbs onto the droplet surface,providing space steric hindrance and electrostatic repulsion to maintain particle size andshape of P/O/W miniemulsion. HD prevents P/O/W miniemulsion against Ostwaldripening by improving osmotic pressure.FT-IR and TEM show that a UV-cured pigment/latex nanoparticle was successfullyprepared via miniemulsion polymerization. The optimal recipe is10%pigment contentbased on weight,25%mass ratio of DNS-86to pigment,20%mass ratio of St to pigmentand2%mass ratio of HD to St,2%mass ratio of AIBN to St, and2%mass ratio ofphoto-initiator to St. Under this condition,the latex coated on the pigment takes up nearly19%of UV-cured pigment/latex composite. Moreover, under UV irradiation, theremained monomer and oligomer in UV-cured pigment/latex dispersion could beinitiated by photo-initiator so that monomer conversion can be increased.UV-cured pigment/latex nanoparticle was used in preparation of inkjet printing ink.Results show that all the basic properties such as particle size, viscosity, surface tensionand pH of the UV-cured pigment/latex ink can meet the requirements of inkjet printing.And it has high freeze-thaw sTab.ility, high centrifugal sTab.ility and low cloggingnozzle rate. After inkjet printing, the fabric printed by the UV-cured pigment/latex inkhas bright color and high color depth, in particular, it not only has good color fastness butsoft handle, which cater to the needs of high-grade textile ink-jet printing and has a goodapplication prospect.
