Chaozhou embroidery belongs to Kuangdongembroidery, which is one of the four famous embroidery of China. Chaozhou andKuangzhou embroidery are collectively called Kuangdong embroidery, representChinese metal stereoscopic embroidery with the traditional features of beautifuldecoration including gold and jade vied with each other, and a stereoscopic vision.Based on fieldwork, combined with research of Teochew Culture and Folklore, alsostarted from the historical background of Teochew Culture, this article builds acomprehensive study, analysed and recorded features, categories, techniques,decorations, utilization and development; analyses the relationship between thechanging features of traditional Chaozhou embroidery and the social circumstancestogether with natural environment through sorting out its theory of application;suggests Chaozhou embroidery develop and innovate upon costume on various means,by using the experience of salutary international cases for reference, and combiningChaozhou embroidery’s features with them. Meanwhile, this article also recommends how to protect and transmit the technique of Chaozhou embroidery to latergenerations in the development of modernized market, on the basis of research on theChaozhou embroidery market status and conditions of the country and locality.Through this substantial content, contributions might be made to the development,transmittal and protection of Chaozhou embroidery techniques hopefully.
