With the continuous exploitation of continental petroleum resources, the reserveof oil and gas is decreasing year by year. The drilling on the sea is increasing year byyear, and the area is going from shallow water to the deep area. The jet drilling is anew drilling technique to solve the geological problems of seabed instability, the lowfracturing pressure, gas hydrate plugging and shallow water hazards. The pipe is theoutermost structure in the casing programme, which supports the whole casing string,subsea tree and downhole BOP. If the bearing capacity of the pipe is not enough, itcauses the pipe sinking and wellhead at the top of the pipe collapsing, which makesthe drilling work cannot continue and brings huge losses to the ocean drilling.Therefore, the analysis of the bearing performance of the pipe, which can be regardedas a design basis for the pipe strength during the deep water drilling, is very important.Solving the security and the stability problems of the pipe is one of the mostimportant problems need to be solved in the deep water drilling areas.Because of the cost and technology, it is unable to carry out experimental studyon vertical bearing capacity of the pipe for deep water drilling at the drilling site. Thesimulation of the pipe sinking is in the laboratory. This article is combining theoryanalysis and ABAQUS numerical simulation to analyze the influence on the verticalbearing capacity of the bit nozzle size and bit nozzle discharge capacity. The stressdistribution along the pipe is also researched during the process of loading on the pipe.The main contents of this article are as follows:1. According to the theory of pile and foundation, the analysis model of verticalbearing capacity of the pipe is established and the calculation method of the frictionalresistance and the end resistance is given out.2. The simulation of the jet drilling is completed in the laboratory. The changerules of the vertical bearing capacity of the pipe are analyzed and the stressdistribution along the pipe is obtained.3. The three-dimensional finite element model is established with the finiteelement software ABAQUS. The simulation of jet drilling is completed. The verticalbearing capacity of the pipe is calculated with different design parameters bychanging the nozzle size and nozzle flow. 4. The experimental data and finite element calculation result are compared andanalyzed. The change rules of the vertical bearing capacity of the pipe are obtained.Through the research and analysis of this paper, some rules of the pipe capacityare obtained which can provide experimental and theoretical basis for our country’sdeep water drilling engineering.
