Biofilter is a kind of green, economic and effective odor removal process and widelyused on real projects. But there are some problems on the design process; especiallymost of the design basis is from experience, which leads that the application capabilitydoes not match the real request.Based on the Jinan waste water treatment plant sludge part odor removal system, analyzeand summarize a biofilter process design through the research on the3typical pollutioncompounds (hydroid sulfur, ammonia and methyl mercaptan) emission rule and biofilterprocess character.Through the research on the3typical compounds seasonal emission rule at the two odorsources—sludge dewater room and the sludge thicken tank, the water temperature is themain impact factor on the pollution concentration and emission load. From the test dataanalysis, summarize the evaluate equation to describe the pollution concentration whichis used to estimate the pollution concentration for the similar projects. From the apparent kinetics point of view, research the relationship between the biofiltertemperature, biofilter irrigation water amount and the pollution compound degradationapparent kinetics constant, and get regressionequation to evaluate the pollution removalapparent kinetic at different situation.Based on the above research achievement, raise a biofilter design process, especiallyapply on the waste water treatment plant odor removal system, include the pollutionconcentration evaluation, the media temperature, EBRT evaluation, detailed design onbiofilter size, the heater condition and the irrigation water amount, etc.Through the research, the problem of the design basis is solved, also give some practicaladvices. Through the analysis on the degradation process, the result not only perfectly matches the project operation situation, also can give some theoretical support.
