Arc welding is the important part of modern manufacturing technique and haswidely used in aerospace, ship and bridge, pressure vessels and other manufacturingindustries. As advanced manufacturing concept which is high-quality, high-efficiency,energy conservation and environmental protection presented, the demand of weldingproduction quality monitoring in engineering is increasing day by day, which iscollecting, recording, displaying and analysis the welding parameters in arc weldingprocess, and making the product quality and consistency assessment, and realizing theprecise control of welding process, ensuring the welding quality and improvingproduction efficiency. Therefore, it has very important engineering application valuethat researching the monitoring equipment of the technical direction.In practical engineering applications, the needs of synthesizing welding processand quality and diverse signals monitoring are presented. The existing equipment hasmany problems and inconveniences, such as the poor integrity of equipment structure,large volume and non-easy carrying, which is hard to apply in the large and fieldwelding environment. Software functions are simple and the counting power ofengineering commonly is weak, and storage speed of information is slow that cannotmeet the needs of daily production monitoring for a long time.Considering the deficiency of arc welding monitoring equipment, this paperembarks from the above demands, and designs a monitoring equipment which havingmulti-functions such as collection, display and storage. And according to the moderndevelopment of companies and engineering common data, an application software isdesigned and using which is a combination of information management, data analysisand evaluation function. The software could immediately process the large data ofcollected in welding process. The monitoring system could realize recording,querying, analyzing, tracing and evaluating the welding quality.The paper is analyzed and studied deeply that the constitution of weldingmonitoring equipment and working principle, reliability and accuracy of parts of themonitoring, hardware mainly including the design and calibration of sensors, signaldisplay function, signal collection and storage function. The application softwareincludes the functions of welding information management, welding data processing,data statistics analysis, characteristic parameter calculation, extracting characteristic information related to welding quality in the large welding process data. Finally, thepaper makes a detailed function demonstration to this arc welding monitoring system,and by the engineering application examples, verifies the applicability and reliabilityof the system.
