In the thesis, a total of seventeen novel imidazole calix[4]arene compounds had beensynthesized and characterized through incorporation of the aryl imidazole groups into theupper and lower rim of the calix[4]arenes. The experimental work includes the following:Synthesis of tetraryl imidazole calix[4]arene derivatives on the upper rim: Firstly,synthesis of two important condensation precursors, aminocalix[4]arene andaldehydecalix[4]arene on the upper by one-pot multicomponent reaction method, were gottenand then as a component, they parparticipated in the multicomponent reactions with otherthree components in which a class of four tetraryl bis (imidazol-1-yl) calix[4]arenederivatives and six tetraryl bis (imidazol-2-yl) calix[4]arene derivatives were synthesized.And the structures of these derivatives were confirmed by IR、1H NMR、13C NMR and MS,and all spectral data means all of synthesized imidazole calix[4]arene derivatives adoptthecone conformation.Synthesis of triaryl imidazole calix[4]arene derivatives on the lower rim. The reaction ofp-tert-butylcalix[4]arene with1,4-dibromobutane gave the intermediate of diethercalix[4]arene. Then a total of seven new imidazole calix[4]arene derivatives on the lower rimwere designed and synthesized through the diethercalix[4]arene and seven triaryl imidazolederivatives attached different kinds of substituents by K2CO3, DMF and N2, and theirstructures were identified by IR,1H NMR,13C NMR and MS, and so on, which shows that allof lower imidazole calix[4]arene derivatives also adopt the cone conformation.Compared with the general method, one-pot multicomponent reaction method is a simpleoperation, mild conditions and higher selectivity.
