Materials such as coal and rock which are broken down by the cutting part of the roadheader are collected and transported to the receiving part of the scraper conveyer by the star wheel loading mechanism of roadheader. Efficiency of the loading mechanism directly affects the overall performance of the roadheader. The reliable and efficient of loading mechanism are very important for improving the production capacity of tunneling machine.In this paper, the three-dimensional models of star wheel loading mechanism are established by UG software, the interface conversion program of STL to the PFC3D software is embedded by the FISH language of PFC3D. Importing the UG conversion of STL model file into PFC3D, thus the star wheel loading mechanism model are established in the PFC3D analysis software.Based on the granular mechanics theory the mechanics mechanical models and mathematical models are established during the star wheel loading materials. Through the contact model of discrete element particle method, the viscous and elastic model of materials is established. The dynamic model and the corresponding kinetic equations of arbitrary dispersion particle are proposed during the process of star wheel loading bulk materials. As the force of different shapes of star wheel tooth are different, the force of spur gear wheel、 concave arc and convex arc wheel are compared by stress analysis. In order to determine the reasonable range of star wheel speed in the process of loading, the stress and strain nephogram and the vibration diagram are getted by using the dynamic analysis software Workbench.The loading efficiency curve of different number teeth of straight and arc gear wheel are obtained and the effect of different width of blade and different diameter of the star wheel loading efficiency are compared by using the software PFC3D. By means of numerical analysis method, getting coordinate formulation of discrete data and using the least square method fitting out the shape of star wheel. Considering the design process of the star wheel loading mechanism mainly rely on the traditional experience, the results are difficult to achieve the optimal solution, which often lead to the waste of production costs and the additional energy consumption. This paper establishes a mathematical model for optimization design. The design of the star wheel loading mechanism is more reasonable by using MATLAB genetic algorithm toolbox draws out generation of genetic fitness line graph, which provides a theoretical reference for the design of star wheel loading mechanism of roadheader.
