As sustainable development is being recognized worldwide, the notion of constructing low-carbon campuses to enhance sustainable university and college development is now a prevailing trend in China. Eco-footprint model is effective to measure the sustainable development, and is important to study the sustainable and low carbon campus. The theory of eco-footprint is a new method for measuring the degree of sustainable development. The method has been widely concerned by academic circles and governments. Comprehensive analysis and component analysis are two methods of eco-footprint calculation now.In this study, the energy, food, water, waste,transportation and paper eco-footprint of Jiangxi Agricultural University in2012has been calculated and analyzed with component method. The results show that:(1) The eco-footprint amount of Jiangxi Agricultural University is12544.054hm2;(2) The per capita eco-footprint is0.505hm2, ecological efficiency is1.98/hm2; The per capita eco-footprint is small;(3)The proportion of the ecological footprint of6components in each occupation from big to small order is: food,energy,waste,paper, water,and traffic. The percentages are46.67%,37.08%,6.11%,5.14%,2.63%and2.37%.Comparing with other domestic and foreign universities, the eco-footprint of Jiangxi Agricultural University has been studied further. The characteristics and problems of low carbon campus has been analyzed. We put forward the measures of eco-footprint reduction:(1)Energy conservation;(2)Eliminate food waste;(3)Garbage classification recycling;(4)Cut paper recycling in Campus;(5)Ecological education in campus;(6)Strength system construction, promote the low carbon campus culture.Finally, based on the characteristics of transportation ecological footprint, some suggestions for the development of low carbon campus has been discussed:(1) Optimization of the campus space structure,reasonable arrangement of land function;(2) Follow the green construction concept, increase campus carbon sequestration;(3) Advocate public transportation first, promote energy-saving (4) dispose properly the problem of "San jia cun".
