Tool passivation is indispensable process of machining. Carbide tool is a key factorwhich promotes the development of machining technology. However quality of carbide tooldepends on quality of tool sharpening passivation. So passivation of carbide tool occupies animportant position in machinery manufacturing. Threaded inserts is a carbide tool whichworks in turning. There are many factors which influence processing performance andworking life about Carbide tool. Such as tool material, tool construction, tool geometry,cutting the amount of optimization and so on. What’s more circumstances of tool edge can’tbe ignored. Tool edge exists some miniature gaps which can’t be see with eyes in cuttingprocess. And these gaps are easy to spread, which can improve the speed of tool damage andwear. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, the tool needs to harden edge surface. Thisarticle put forward new passivation process that water jet cutting technology is used inpassivation of threaded inserts for carbide tool. This method has some theoretical significanceand application value in cutting.Based on carbide tool, common problems are selected to explain in passivation process.Such as big loss, low efficiency passivation, poor control edge shape and so on. According toanalysis and research for conventional passivation process, water jet passivation technology isproposed. And comparative experiment analysis can optimize and improve the overallperformance of carbide tool edge passivation.Theoretical and experimental study is done for the process of carbide tool edgepassivation. By Contrasting data of the performance about passivation before and after, thestudy shows that conventional passivation process can improve processing performance oftool to some extent. It can also improve rationality and efficiency of cutting. Moreover, it canstrengthen process accuracy and stability. Micro chipping and kerf can be reduced and toolwear and damage can be stay.Feasibility analysis is done for proposing passivation scheme by using new passivationprocess which is water jet. And the best solution and final test program are graduallyidentified. On basis of this, trial experiment of exploratory is carried out. By relevantassessment, passivation process can be made achieved the requirement of standardizedproduction. Micro-abrasive water jet is a micromachining technology with low cost and highefficiency. This method is used in treatment of passivation tool, which has importantsignificance and application value.Finally theoretical analysis which is around the cutting surface quality, optimizingpassive arc and so on of threaded inserts edge passivation is carried out. Suitable threaded inserts parameters of turning can be chosen by theoretical analysis combining withexperimental study. A series of parameters and results of influencing passivation tool-edge’squality can get by experimental samples and research and analysis for results of bladepassivation process.According to tests and experiments for carbide tool passivation, the program aboutanalysis, design and optimization solution used by this thesis is feasible. These relationalpassivation process can improve tool life, metal cutting efficiency and reduce manufacturingcost in some extent. These also can meet the requirement of different types of customers. Allthis has important significance of exploratory in cutting.
