Coal mine disasters always caused by gas, which has formed a huge threat to the production safety and the miners’lives. So, countries have never stopped researching and exploring the gas detection field. Although from the ancient times, people had been looking for the best gas detection methods and equipment to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of the gas concentration measurement, reduce the incidence of accidents disasters. However, the existing types of gas concentration detection methods have some drawbacks yet. Therefore, the better gas detection method is needed greatly in coal mining industry, which can realize coal mine safety production, reduce gas explosion occurred and ensure mine safety operations.The article introduced the performance of hollow-core photonic crystal fiber. The hollow-core photonic crystal fiber sensor is applied to the gas detection system. Based on the new fiber sensor, the article introduces a complete testing system. There are semiconductor laser MXSLD-CS65M5A, HCPCCF F-P sensor, photoelectric converter PDA30G, ADC LCT2245, FPGA EP2C5Q208C8and USB chip CY7C68013A in the gas detection system. Each device is intruduced detailedly. FPGA controls the ADC and USB chip, to realize data acquisition, storage and other functions. The system software is Dataview ver1.33, whice can test different concentrations of gas were detected. Finally, a series of experiments on the system have proved its usefulness.Finally, by setting the PC software parameters, displaying and processing the datas USB bus upload online, through the analysis of the specific changes of gas concentration curve to realize the on-line monitoring of gas concentration and alarm processing.From the experiment, the data and the figure show that the gas concentration detection system is exact. Its performance is stable. It is not affected by temperature.
