Crushers play an important role in the industrial field, and the compound pendulum jaw crusher is currently the most widely used crushing equipment. Compound pendulum jaw crusher has achieved mass production, however, most companies use the traditional design method. Parts of parameters obtained by empirical data are lack of theoretical guidance, causing a certain blindness and an increase of experimental period and cost. The thesis is guided by optimization methods and theories, combining the actual production of the crusher with the kinematics analysis. Further more, the optimization model for the movement dimension parameters of the crusher’s mechanism is established on the purpose of reducing the blindness of the traditional design, as well as improving the crusher’s performance significantly in a shorter design cycle.Taking the PE600x900crusher as the optimal design object, the thesis introduces research status, development trends, working principle of the compound pendulum jaw crusher. Combining with the actual production of the crusher to analyze the structural parameters and operating parameters of the crusher, and using the optimization design method to establish optimization model of the PE600x900crusher, the thesis establishes the kinematic mathematical model according to the crusher’s kinematic diagram, determines design variables based on the motion dimension parameters of the mechanical mechanism, uses stroke ratios of the crusher’s movable jaw plate at the feed opening and discharge opening as design targets, and builds constraints based on relationships of each motion size, completes the establishment of the mathematical optimization model. The design uses MATLAB optimization toolbox to realize the establishment of the crusher’s kinematic analysis function, objective function, nonlinear constrained function and optimization function, and the optimization results are obtained.In comparison to the original model, the optimized crusher’s model is improved in terms of nip angle, transmission angle, moving jaw stroke characteristics etc. By means of the optimal design, the optimized crusher’s kinematic model is improved dramatically in terms of production capacity, laying a good foundation for structure design and the next optimization in terms of dynamics.
