As the motor vehicle population increases year by year, along with the higherconsumption of the motor gasoline, the sulfide, included in the motor vehicle exhaust,which leads to the Atmospheric pollution and the formation of acid rain, has alreadybecome one of the objects of the public concern. Through the combustion of motor gasolinein the engine, sulfur turns into SOxand enters the motor vehicle exhaust which causesatmospheric pollution. Thus cutting down the sulphur content in motor gasoline is supposedto be the most important target of the reduction of vehicle exhaust pollutant emissions. Assulphur content goes down, so do the other kinds of pollutants in the vehicle exhaust. Andthe pollutant emission reduction quantity goes higher when the sulfur content goes down.Based on the investigation of international and domestic motor gasoline quality standardsdevelopment history, this paper forecasts the future of domestic motor gasoline qualityrequirements; the paper also finds out the upgrade bottleneck of the motor gasoline qualityin Daqing Petrochemical Company through the investigation on current situation ofgasoline production process and quality in its oil refinery; besides, by analyzing all kinds ofcatalytic gasoline desulfurization technology at home and abroad, combining the situationof gasoline properties from Daqing Petrochemical Company refinery, it is supposed tochoose PetroChina Gardes technology to realize the upgrade of gasoline quality fromDaqing Petrochemical Company refinery.
