With the acceleration of urbanization, problem of urban water body pollution is increasingly intensified. Now Suzhou is also facing a severe problem on water environment. In order to improve the self-purification capacity and improve the water environment in the old city area of Suzhou city, route optimization can be achieved by running water scheduling program. Visualization system of the river network numerical simulation on scheduling program has the characteristics of significant simplicity, intuitive and flexibility, as well as great significance on practice and research.Based on analyzing the improvement measures of domestic and international urban water environment and the status of water environment in Suzhou city, according to the demand of water environmental protection planning of Suzhou city, this paper established a one-dimensional flow mathematical model, which is calibrated and verified by prototype observation data. After the verification, we are sure that the model has a high accuracy. Developing WinForm form application by C#language, integrating Fortran program on unsteady-flow numerical simulation of existing river network, set up a river flow numerical simulation of integrated visualization system which is suitable for ancient city area of Suzhou city. Finally, the visualization on numerical simulation process and calculation results of the river network has been realized, which can conveniently and intuitively simulate the characteristics of the flow of river network in ancient city area and provide an important technology platform for the formulation and implementation on the optimization of operation scheduling scheme of sluice gate station and water environmental protection planning.The main function realized by numerical simulation of visualization system on the flow of river network in ancient city area of Suzhou city can be summarized as follows:(1)Inputting the basic data required by numerical simulation of the flow of river network, including some calculation parameters, such as given water level of outer moat as outer boundary conditions of river network, running conditions of pumping station and sluice, time step, iterative control accuracy, and so on.(2)The calling Fortran program established a mathematical model. Based on the Saint-Venant equations, using a four-point weighted Preissmann implicit finite difference scheme for the time and spatial discretization of equations, adopt dual relaxation iterative method to conduct unsteady-flow numerical simulation.(3)The system could display and output the numerical simulation results. The process of water level, volume and velocity of flow in any calculation section of major rivers displayed in the form of two-dimensional graph. The final calculated values of water level, volume and velocity of flow in all of the calculation sections of all rivers displayed in the form of a bar chart, and output all of the final calculated values in the form of an Excel file.
