The reduction of greenhouse gas emission has become an imperativetask for China. As an important energy province in China,Liaoning isfacing tremendous pressure for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions due to its coal-dominated energy structure although its energy consumption efficiency has been dramatically improved. Therefore, the imbalance betweenincreasing demand for energy andgrowing CO2emission hasbecome the "bottleneck" problem for Liaoning province.Carbon capture and Storage (CCS) technology could greatly help reduce the emission of CO2generated fromburning of fossil fuels. Therefore, based onLiaoning energy systems model, a new energy systemsplanning model which contain CCS technology was developed.Three different scenarios were designedto reflect different CO2emission reduction tasks. The method of interval mixed integer programmingwas also introduced to address the uncertainties associated with Liaoning energy systems planning and CCS technology application.Through contrasting the optimization results underdifferent scenarios, it is indicated that (1)under the CO2emission reduction policies, the use of CCS technology will pose a significant influence on the existing Liaoning energy systems;(2)the application of CCS technology should be combined with other clean production technologies, in order to achieve sustainable development of Liaoning energy systems. |
