Tu Nationality is one of the five endemic nationalities in Ganningqing area of China. The apparel of Tu Nationality is an attractive and distinguishing field in the research of Chinese national costume and culture, and its costumes are made with bright, gorgeous, and contrasting colors."Xiusu" is an example of Tu apparel, which is sewed with seven-color hand-spun cloth or holding strips of silk and satin, and the colors are red, yellow, green, purple, blue, black, and white. Its bold and hot color use breaks the conventional rule of the use of harmonious colors, which gives one strong visual stimulation and has strong national culture connotation as well. It can deeply inspire color design of model dress. In model fashion design, color is an expression of vitality of dress, which emphasizes harmonizing and matching of colors, color blocks and shapes’ positions and proportional relation. One has to deeply understand all kinds of peculiarities and cultural connotations of the apparel color language. On the basis of inheriting color style of traditional clothing, with the combination of modern popular color culture that is not negligible, and the incessant developing and changing of time, economy, culture, and social background, one needs to base oneself on color research and innovation in apparel design, so that one can keep creating unique clothing work and style language of one’s own.
