Study On The Design Of Modern Ceramic Doll

Because of the influence of different cultural backgrounds and historical factors, ceramic dolls not only reflect the characteristics of the national culture, but also showcase the current situation and humanistic ideas in social life. With the rapid development of technology, the design of ceramic dolls gradually has stayed away from the traditional style and has had more alternative interpretation. Due to the impact of popular culture, ceramic dolls have became more fashionable than other dolls. Using traditional ceramic as raw materials is one of the important developing trends of modern dolls. Studying and practicing the design of modern ceramic dolls can not only draw people’s attention to the issue of retaining or innovating the traditional cultural treasures, but also promote the development of China’s ceramic dolls, improve the level of doll designed in China, and advance the formation of modern Chinese character dolls.With a focus on modern ceramic dolls, this paper looks back at the origin and development of ceramic dolls, and demonstrates the future of them from the multiple perspectives, i.e. The perspective of the status quo of research on ceramic dolls, unique attractiveness of them, China’s sophisticated porcelain manufacture base, rich resources of designers, rich regional culture and the expansion of target consumers. From the psychological perspective, this paper deeply analyzes the market demand. Also, the authors investigate the biggest toy BBS site in China and visit some ceramics factories and doll factories in nearby cities in person. After compiling the data gathered, we define our target consumers as those adults who are able to and willing to buy ceramic dolls, also taking into consideration the design method and principle of modern ceramic dolls. We therefore further prove the feasibility of investment on ceramic dolls in China. Eventually this paper develops the theory of modern pottery and porcelain doll design to make it more the complete, systematic and profound.
