The Lithium-Aluminum-silicon (LiO-Al2O3-SiO2,referred to as LAS)glass-ceramic has asignificant advantage in the heat resistance performance, and zero expansion is of great significance toimprove heat geometric stability of the aerospace structure and electronic equipment. Owing toglass-ceramic with high hardness, toughness, poor thermal conductivity, it is a typical refractorymaterials, especially its cutting is very difficult. In recent years, diamond wire saw as a consolidationabrasive cutting tool has attracted widespread attention at home and abroad, which exhibit excellentperformance for cutting hard and brittle materials. Therefore, we intend to use the diamond wire sawcutting LAS glass experimental optimization of the cutting process parameters as well as cutting fluid, which provides technical support for the diamond wire saw cutting the LAS glass.Main work and the results obtained are as follows:(1) Mechanism of diamond wire saw cutting glass-ceramic was taken. Diamond wire sawingcutting model of the glass-ceramic was established, the material removal during the cuttingprocess and the process of forming on the surface was researched. Analyzing glass-ceramicby indentation hardness and cracks extended state at room temperature, the critical load toobtain a material fragmentation was obtained.(2) By single factor experiment to study the tension of the wire saw, saw silk speed and workpiece feed speed for slice surface roughness and access to the effect of process parameters onsurface roughness. LAS glass-ceramic cutting process parameters was optimized byorthogonal experiment. The optimal combination of parameters: work piece feed rate0.75mm/min, and saw silk speed1.7m/s, the cylinder pressure0.26MPa.(3) Formulation of diamond wire saw cutting LAS glass cutting fluid was optimized byorthogonal experiment. The optimal machining fluid formulations were: value of pH11.5,the volume fraction of ethylene glycol30%, mass fraction of NaF0.1%,which can improvethe cutting efficiency of26%.
