With the rapid growth of the social economy, the demand of the NationalDevelopment for oil and other basic energy is also growing. The transport of oil ismainly through pipeline, therefore, pipeline transportation plays an increasinglyimportant role in the national economy. However, due to man-made damage, agingpipes, pipe failure and other reasons, when the pipeline spills have occurred, not onlyaffecting the normal transport of oil, but also caused serious economic losses andenvironmental pollution, and even cause a fire or explosion, seriously affecting peop leproduction and life. Therefore, once the pipeline leaks, to detect the leak timely andlocate the leak accurately, reducing losses caused by leakage and contamination isimperative.Existing pipeline leak detection system is mature, and can quickly detect leakage, but it is not intuitive to determine the location of the leak, does not fully utilize thespatial information, and lack of spatial analysis for leakage. This paper presentsapplying the WebGIS technology to pipeline leak detection system, based on existingleak detection technology, order geographic information systems (GIS), Internet, dataacquisition system as a means to build a WebGIS-based pipeline leak early warningsystem, not only played a powerful data management capabilities, extensive dataanalysis capabilities and an intuitive graphical display of GIS, but also extend GISfunctionality to the Internet, as long as there is a network in place, people can accessthe system to view relevant information through a common browser. The system is based on B/S mode, and realizes data collection, storage, management and analysis of the pipeline, it can quickly detect leaks in real time, accurately locate the leak, display the location of the leak visually on a map out aclear and provide early warning and decision support for repair personnel usingpowerful data query and spatial analysis capabilities of GIS.
